CCI is now accepting applications for conservation treatment services!
CCI is now accepting applications for treatment of artifacts for the April 2009 – March 2010 fiscal year. We invite Canadian museum clients to apply for conservation treatment services for furniture, objects (including industrial, ethnographic, and historical objects), photographic materials, and works of art on paper or paper-based archival documents. Treatment requests must be received before October 15, 2008, using the Conservation and Restoration Treatments Request Form available in the e-Services section of our Web site.

Deadline for New Requests- Archaeological Conservation Services
At this time, we would like to remind Canadian museums, universities, and Aboriginal communities of the upcoming deadline for new requests for archaeological conservation treatments (pre- and post-excavation) and conservation field services. Applications must be received before February 1, 2008.

e-Services provides a new and modern way to communicate and transact business with CCI. By registering for e-Services, you can submit requests for CCI services, track the progress of the work, and access an online version of the CCI Notes in both html and pdf formats. Access to CCI Notes is free for clients in Canada, and can be purchased by foreign clients for a one-time fee of CAN$80.

To improve our service delivery and increase the transparency of our decision-making, CCI has developed a comprehensive services framework that includes clarification of clients eligible for our services, new criteria for assessing service requests, a new revenue generation policy, and an updated fee structure. Information on these policies, which will become effective on April 1, 2007, is now available in the Services section of our Web site.

New Post-Secondary Paid Internship Program
CCI launches a new Post-Secondary Paid Internship Program for Canadians. Successful candidates will participate in a one-year internship that will allow them to enhance their studies with on-the-job training and experience. Interns will assist CCI conservators in improving the condition of Canadian heritage collections through the conservation and restoration treatment of heritage objects and the provision of conservation advice to clients.

Digital Preservation Facing Digital Preservation Challenges
On March 28, 2007, CCI will be one of the co-presenters of a full-day workshop on preservation planning and long-term strategies for digital collections.
